Giving Back!!
The first part of my senior year I went to volunteer at Sopris Mountain Elementary school. I would volunteer Tuesday thru Friday 9:15 to 11:15. I would go to Mrs. Neal's class, she was a second grade teacher and I would help the students with anything they needed like spelling, or maybe just need a little more help on the assignment. I would even take some of the students in the hallway and work individually with them doing things such as working with them on sight word or even timing them read aloud. Sometimes Mrs.Neal would even have me do the small works and that where you worked with a small group of students and you just work with on the fluency and accuracy, also you work with sound and “ea’’, ‘’ee’’, etc. They would read a passage with the sounds in and after that they practice spelling some of the words form the passage and at the end of that there's a spelling test. I would just help Mrs. Neal as much as I could by doing thing like the small groups and if she need a papers copied i would do that for her or if she need something cut than i would help her I was like the teacher helper. I had a blast giving back my time to all those wonderful bright young kids and their wonderful second grade teacher.
